21세기 문방구 입니다

오늘은 현재 클래식 음악 분야안에 포함된 세계적으로 유명한 전자음악가 한명을 소개할까 합니다. 현대클래식 안의, 전자음악 분야에서도 엠비언트 장르에 속하는  브라이언 이노(Brian Eno, *1948) 라는 영국의 멀티미디어 예술가 입니다. 세계적으로 유명한 전자음악가중에 한명이며 설치미술과 함께 기술과 음악을 활용한 혁신적인 작품들을 만들고 있고, 영화작업외 다양한 장르와 협업하여 작업을 하고 있습니다. 그는 원래 대학에서 컨셉츄얼 페인팅(conceptual painting)과 사운드 조각(sound sculpture)이라는 것을 배웠고, 악기와의 실험이나 사운드의 연구를 했던 사람이었습니다. 이노는 아티스트로써의 위치나 퀄리티뿐만이 아니라 대중예술에서도 성공한 아티스트입니다. 둘다 성공하기란 쉽지 않은데 말이죠. 

 믹싱 컬러 익스펜디드 앨범

브라이언 이노와 그의 동생 로거 이노, 이 두형제가 올해 믹싱 컬러 익스펜디드 앨범(2020.07.17)을 냈습니다. 이 앨범엔 총 18곡이 실려있고 모두 침묵적이며 엠비언트적인 성격을 띄고 있습니다.

„Minimalismus bedeutet für mich nicht, dass man Kunst machen möchte, die nicht viel beinhaltet. Sondern, dass man Kunst machen möchte, bei der vieles, was drin ist, von der Person kommt, die sie rezipiert.“


“저에게 미니멀리즘이란,  많이 포함하지 않는 예술을 만들고 싶다는 의미가 아니라,  그 속에서  많은 것들이 발생할 때,  뭔가 그안에 존재하는, 그것을 받는 사람에게서 나오는 예술을 만들고 싶다는 것입니다.

미니멀리즘(단순성)이 예술계에서는 가장 쉬운 예술, 신경쓰지 않는 느낌 등의 소재가 단순한 느낌이 강한 선입견들이 종종 있습니다. 하지만, 그안에서 이노는 그것이 단지 단순함을 위해서 써지는 것이 아닌, 그 단순성에서도 많은 것들이 포함되어 있다는 것을 얘기하고 있습니다. 

사실, 사운드로 듣기엔 하나의 소리 같지만 저 소리를 만들기 위해서 수백개의 트랙이나 수백개의 샘플을 사용합니다. 전자음악의 분야에서는 결과적으로는 어떠한 소리로 결집되는 과정이 매우 어려운 학문으로 쉽게 분석을 할 수 없는 미지의 세계이죠. 결과는 단순하게 도출되지만 그 과정이 어마어마하다는 사실!
